IT Classes

We have supported educational institutions such as Wolverhampton College to help people develop their digital literacy in a supportive, community based environment. By promoting their sessions and arranging local venues, we make it easier for individuals who may not be able to attend formal college settings to access high quality digital learning.

ConGens has joined the council’s digital device and data sharing scheme, enabling us to distribute Chromebooks and dongles to eligible individuals. This ensures that people not only gain digital skills but also have the equipment and connectivity they need to put those skills into practice.

We have provided extensive digital support in the community, helping people gain the confidence and skills to use technology daily. In collaboration with Wolverhampton College, we’ve made digital learning more accessible at local venues, allowing those unable to attend formal classes to receive quality support in a familiar environment, aiding their journey to employment.

As part of our commitment to digital inclusion, ConGens also takes part in the council’s digital device and data sharing scheme. Through this initiative, we have been able to distribute Chromebooks and dongles to eligible residents, ensuring that people not only learn new skills but also have the equipment and connectivity needed to put those skills into practice at home.

Family Setting

A significant part of our work focuses on supporting older adults who are new to technology. Using the Learn My Way platform, we help people get to grips with the basics — from switching on a device and navigating the internet to sending emails and finding trustworthy information online. For many, these simple steps open up new opportunities to stay in touch with family, manage appointments or enjoy online entertainment.

We offer digital learning in both small groups and one to one sessions, depending on what suits each learner best. Some people appreciate the reassurance of individual support, while others enjoy the social aspect of learning alongside peers. This flexible approach helps those who may feel unsure about technology to learn at their own pace in a relaxed, friendly setting.

Our sessions take place across Wolverhampton and neighbouring areas, including South Staffordshire, bringing digital support closer to where people live. By offering classes in local community spaces, we help remove barriers such as travel, cost and confidence, making digital learning more accessible to those who need it most.

We also run Computer Cafés, where people can drop in for one to one help with any IT related questions. These sessions are ideal for those who need quick, practical support without committing to a full course. One of our most popular topics is helping people get more out of their mobile phones. Many participants arrive using their phones only for calls or WhatsApp messages, but soon discover features that make everyday life easier — from taking and organising photos to using maps, apps and online services. These practical skills help people feel more confident, independent and connected in an increasingly digital world.
